Fiber Mill Directory (fibermilldirectory.com) is a free, public directory of fiber processing mills in the United States. This page explains what data the site collects and why. It is written to be read, not to be impressive.

The short version

You do not need an account. There is nothing to sign up for. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information. The only visitor data we collect is anonymous usage analytics.

What we collect

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages people find useful — how many visitors arrive, which mills and guides get read, and which outbound links get clicked. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser and receives your IP address, approximate location, device type, and browsing activity on this site. IP addresses are anonymised by Google before storage.

We look at this data in aggregate. We do not attempt to identify individual visitors, and we have no way to connect analytics data to a real person.

You can opt out with Google'sbrowser add-on, or by blocking cookies for this site. Nothing on the site breaks if you do.

Fonts

Typefaces are served by Google Fonts. Loading them means Google receives your IP address and browser details. We do not send Google anything else.

Hosting

The site is static and served by a hosting provider that keeps standard server logs — IP address, request time, page requested, user agent — for security and abuse prevention. These are retained briefly and are not used for tracking or marketing.

Search

Site search runs entirely in your browser against a file downloaded with the page. Your search terms are not transmitted to us or to anyone else.

What we do not collect

  • No user accounts, logins, or passwords
  • No comments
  • No file or image uploads
  • No payment details — this site takes no payments
  • No advertising networks, retargeting pixels, or data brokers
  • No newsletter or mailing list

If you contact us

If you email us — for example to suggest a mill or correct a listing — we keep your message and email address for as long as needed to deal with it and to keep the directory accurate. We do not add you to any list. You can ask us to delete your message at any time.

Mill listings

Listings are compiled from publicly available business information: business names, locations, websites, and the services mills advertise. This is business contact information, not personal data about individuals.

If you operate a mill and want your listing corrected, updated, or removed, email us and we will action it. You do not need to give a reason.

Links to other sites

The directory links out to mill websites and other third parties. Once you follow a link, you are on someone else's site under their privacy policy. We are not responsible for how they handle your data.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request a copy of any personal data we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, or object to how it is used. In practice we hold very little: anonymous analytics, plus any email you have sent us. Email us and we will help.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the date at the top of this page changes with it.
